Sewing workshops
I run occasional beginners’ workshops at home in Highbury, North London for up to 4 people at a time. No previous experience is necessary and all equipment and materials are provided, although
you are welcome to bring your own. Book as an individual or as a group. Prices start at £30 pp and classes last about 3 hours.
*Please note classes are for adults only (16 years and over)
TOTE BAG (left): In this class you will make a super-useful bag in one of 3 sizes, using a commercial pattern and a sewing machine.
Skills: reading a pattern, laying & cutting out, transferring pattern marks, following pattern instructions, threading & using a sewing machine, construction & finishing.
CUSHION COVERS: In this class you will learn to
make either zipped or envelope cushion covers without a commercial pattern.
Skills: making your own pattern, ‘fussy cutting’, cutting out, assembling the cushion cover, neatening seams, inserting a zip, threading &
using a sewing machine, using a zipper foot, construction & finishing.
BAGSY IT: a fun workshop aimed at those who just want a jolly time being creative and learning some basic skills. You will be able to make a drawstring bag and/or lavender bags using scraps & haberdashery. You don’t even have to use the sewing machine if you don’t want to, although tuition will be given if you do. This is a good class for a small group of friends to do, perhaps as a birthday treat or hen activity. And if you are in North East London, I can come to you.
Got your own sewing machine? Many people have a sewing machine they’ve bought or been given and never used because they simply don’t know how. If this is you, do bring your machine to either workshop and I will show you how to use it.
LEARN AT HOME
If you live in North East London I am also available for At Home sessions where I come to you with my equipment and teach a bespoke beginner’s class, tailored to what you would like to learn. Depending on how much space you have I can teach up to 3 people at one time. Prices start at £100 for a 2-3 hour session. Please email me here for more information.
