Legally I am obliged to ensure that you, the customer, are aware of and agree to the terms and conditions of any transactions between us. Please read the following, and if you have any questions do not hesitate to get in touch.
These Terms and Conditions do not affect your statutory rights and they apply to all sales via web, email or phone. Secondary Modern reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at
any time without prior notice. I encourage my customers to review this page whenever they purchase from the website.
All products are described as fully as possible and to the best of my ability. I try to show colours and textures as accurately as I can; however everyone’s computer screen or monitor is different and deviations may occur. If you are in any doubt about anything do get in touch. The vintage textiles I use to make items are at least 35 years old and were not originally manufactured with the benefits of modern technology. Therefore please treat with care and follow the washing instructions given. The condition of these fabrics and the vintage items I sell reflect their age and the fact that they have lived a previous life. Any significant wear or markings will be pointed out in the product description. ‘Vintage condition’ is not considered damaged or faulty.
Secondary Modern only accepts payments via PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to do this, and you can use all major debit and credit cards. On agreeing to your purchase you will be taken to the PayPal site to complete the transaction. Secondary Modern is not party to any of your financial details. PayPal deliver one of the most secure payment platforms in the world, giving you the highest level of protection available when making a purchase. They automatically encrypt all sensitive information sent between your computer and their systems, ensuring your information is kept private. Secondary Modern will also, by special arrangement, accept payments made by BACS transfer. Please use the contact form here to request this. Be aware that any goods you wish to purchase will be available to others until payment is agreed.
No goods will be dispatched until payment is verified.
The quoted P&P charges apply to UK mainland addresses only. Please contact me here before ordering if you are UK non-mainland – usually the stated fees will apply but there may be a small surcharge, especially for larger parcels that require courier delivery. Overseas: please contact me here for a quote. Any customs or import duties are the responsibility of the recipient.
I will not issue refunds due to non-payment of these charges.
I despatch all in-stock items within 2 working days of ordering, usually by Royal Mail although larger items may be sent by courier. If you are unable to take delivery of your goods on a confirmed delivery date, Secondary Modern reserves the right to charge you for any subsequent deliveries, where applicable.
If goods are accidentally damaged in the course of delivery then Secondary Modern’s liability for that damage is limited to the repair, refund or replacement (if possible) of the goods or the value.
CANCELLATIONS, RETURNS & REFUNDS
If you change your mind you are entitled to cancel a purchasing contract and receive a full refund provided you do so in writing no longer that 14 days after receipt of the goods. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or use the cancellation form here. If you wish to cancel prior to order despatch please contact me as soon as possible. If the order has already been despatched then you will need to return it, properly wrapped and in good condition, via an insured method and obtain proof of posting. Secondary Modern cannot accept any liability for goods lost or damaged in transit. Secondary Modern cannot offer free returns at this time; the customer is responsible for the cost of returns. I will accept returns in person. No refund will be issued until the item(s) have been received and inspected.
If you are returning an item due to its being faulty Secondary Modern will pay the return delivery costs.

Please include your name and email address with the item, so that your refund can be processed.
Please note: The returns and refunds policy does NOT automatically apply to bespoke and specially commissioned pieces. Please contact me as soon as possible if you wish to cancel such a contract – if work has not started it may be possible to offer at least a part refund but I cannot guarantee this. Refunds cannot be given on completed or almost-completed commissioned pieces.
I take your personal privacy very seriously and only collect such data as is required to fulfil your order ie name, delivery address, email address. Secondary Modern may very very occasionally use your email address to send you information about new products, offers, and changes to the website. If you hate this idea let me know and I will take you off the list. In any case, I will generally use the Facebook page for these notifications, which is entirely within your control. I will never ever knowingly pass your details on to any third party.
I make every effort to show products as accurately as possible but due to limitations and differences between monitors there may be slight colour differences to those displayed.
I endeavour to ensure the accuracy of the site however it’s possible that some errors may occur. I will make every effort to rectify any errors as soon as possible but I cannot be held responsible.
I am entitled to refuse any order.
